* The reason you feel this ban should be lifted:If someone calls you a liar, you don't change your address. There was a PC gaming magazine article a couple months back that berated the path that cheating has taken now. It talked about how there are now pay-for-hack services, where your hack can be custom made and made 100% undetectable for a fee. From that point, whenever I played a session of AA, I would have the unshakable feeling that the guys that are owning me couldn't be doing that good without the aid of these pay services. People accusing each other of using wallhacks, and aimbots, and ESP and a bunch of other terms I didn't understand. So, using the power of the internet I decided to try out a hack to see for myself what happened when using them, so I could see, using my new experience as a guide, if it appeared my assailant was actually using some illicit means of killing me. I downloaded the simplest program, just an aimbot/recoil hack and planned on trying it out on a cheat server, where cheating is allowed, judging by the name. This file was downloaded with the warning it was 100% detected on punkbuster. Oddly enough, when I set my filters on AA, there were none running even though I had started the aimbot program. "Oh well, maybe some other time", I thought. I ended up just scrapping the idea and just deleting the aimbot program. Then the problem began. About a week later, I started up my next session of AA and got booted for having a file on my C:\ drive called hack.ini (stupid name if you're trying to hide a hack). The problem I had at the time was when I got booted, the message flashed too quick to read it and see what the problem was. So I tried a different map and got the same result, but this time I saw the message and found the stupid file and deleted it. Now the ACI and AON banlists are updated and I am getting harrassed everywhere for it. By some leap of logic, it seems everyone thinks that the only ones who are allowed to have any knowledge of hacks are the hackers. Knowledge is not the problem. Perhaps if everyone talked about them, there would be less mystery behind them and everyone would know when they are playing against a hacker or someone better than them. I have had my AA account since 2003 on v1.1. I have learned a lot of people's names and many have learned my name, usually having my name followed by "was shot by (your name)". Unlike many of the hackers out there, I DO admit there was a hack file on my PC and I even opened it, and, had there been a cheat server available, I would have even killed people with it. I also don't have a horrible fragrate to fall back on as an excuse. It's about a 1 (0.95 overall, 1.1 on SF extraction), so I can't say "See? I can't be hacking, my FR is atrocious!" But I can say that I am in the same boat as the groups such as ACI and AON. I understand that trying to stop these sadists that want to feel better by making everyone else's time worse can be a daunting task, so I don't begrudge them for placing me on this list. I have just found that now it is no picnic being on the other side of their banlists. But I had no clue how strongly these groups were tied together and how total the enforcement of this ban has become. I am being berated on AASA servers and called out in admin messages, then booted. It's like having tomatoes thrown at you when you go the supermarket. I am now eating a large slice of humble pie and coming to ACI (and AON coming up) to ask that a little understanding be bestowed by those that also want to learn what they're up against when playing these games.
